Grace O’Malley gin takes its name from the legendary 16th Century Irish Pirate Queen, born in Co. Mayo in 1530 and embodies her charismatic nature and heroic character. Whilst Grace is best known today as both clan leader and fearless seafarer, she was also a pioneer of cultivating and harvesting the O’Malley lands on the west coast of Ireland where the unique botanicals that are enjoyed today in our unique gin still thrive on the western edge of Europe. Her visionary instincts in how to get the most of the land, be that medicinally or agriculturally, still influence our modern day understanding of plant-based medicines and herbal remedies.
